Methadone maintenance treatment

Methadone maintenance treatment is a long-term program where patients are prescribed methadone as an alternative to the opioid they were dependant on. Methadone suppresses withdrawal symptoms, reduces cravings, and blocks the euphoric effects of other opioids. Because tolerance to methadone is slow to develop, clients can choose to be kept in the program indefinitely. However, those wishing to phase out treatment will find the help and support they need to become completely drug free.

Together with counselling services, Methadone maintenance treatment can improve physical and mental health, social functioning, and overall quality of life.

Suboxone treatment

Similar to Methadone, Suboxone is prescribed to treat opioid dependence. When taken, Suboxone is effective at suppressing cravings, the symptoms of withdrawal, and the euphoric effects of other opioids. And by slowly decreasing the dose over the course of several weeks or months, patients can become opioid free without having to go through withdrawal.

Suboxone treatment, together with counselling, can improve physical and mental health, social functioning, and overall quality of life.
